Her death was his beginning…”

Stricken with grief from the death of his girlfriend, Sith, Guy Salvatore struggles to make sense of his world. He’s plagued with hallucinations of monsters that torment him with outrageous requests. He’s unsure if these manifestations are real or are being invented by his own sickened mind.

Enter Satan: a strange old man who shares with Guy a story of two Gods who govern all of existence. According to Satan, the Gods allowed Sith to be removed from her world. Now she is floating aimlessly in and out of dimensional planes known as the “Dream Worlds.” Satan implores Guy to take action and call upon his latent power to break through his world’s plane, search out Sith, and take vengeance upon the vile Gods who caused this atrocity.

Satan’s story promises hope to Guy and raises the possibility of Sith still being alive. Yet, Guy’s doubts linger: Is Satan to be believed? Who are the Gods and why did they allow Sith to be taken? Who is to be trusted? And, ultimately, is Guy slowly going insane?

So, what’s a “Guy” to do?

Join Guy as he begins to unravel the truth, and learn what really happened to Sith – before it’s too late…”

NOT FINAL COVER ART

The God Machine: Time’s Fragment [Volume 2]

Published by Archaia.
Release date: TBA [approximately late 2012 to mid 2013]

Guy Salvatore is lost in a nightmare — and when the mysterious Good God comes to his aid, things only get worse! Fragmented shards of half-remembered childhood traumas resurface to plague him — memories of a childhood lost.

Is everything he is experiencing simply manifestations of his own twisted mind, the creations of a sad five year old boy trying to fill the void of his lonely existence, or are these hallucinations somehow real? Is he destined to become something more than imagination– something able to pierce the shroud between dimensions, and peer into other worlds?

Can he save his once believed dead girlfriend, Sith, from these dream worlds– or is it too late for both of them?

  1. A few days ago I bought The God Machine from a borders that was going out of business just because I liked the title and found the art intriguing. I really knew nothing about it but all the books were 70% off so I was just picking up anything that caught my eye. I must say I was not ready for how much I was going to like it. It was sitting on my desk for days before I finally picked it up last night to read it and once I did I refused to put it down for anything. Then today I left work and went straight to the bookstore to see if there was another book out, and was slightly crushed to find out that there wasn’t. I then search for the author online and here I am. I was wondering when the next book in that series will be coming out? Because that is far too good of a story in both concept and execution to possibly to not continue. Also, I just wanted to give my compliments to the writer and artist. Being a big fan of graphic novels and all forms of animation I really found the art refreshingly original and well blended and formed into the context of the story. I enjoy the witty backhanded humor as well as the depth of which the characters emotions are displayed. All in all, seriously winning in all forms. Well done. And now that you have me itching like a fiend for the next one, please don’t keep me waiting.

  2. I was struck by the artwork first and then drawn into the story. I went back to Barnes and Nobles twice before buying it. I am looking forward to enjoying the artwork and rereading the story again and again.

Is there plans for the second part and if so when should I start looking for it.

    • Thank you for finally caving into it\’s wildes! ;D I\’m happy you enjoyed it so much!

The 2nd book is in production right now (at the writing phase). Hoping to have volume 2 out by sometime next year. Keep a look out on this site for additional information and updates to it\’s progress. There may be an early look at the penciled pages coming up in the next couple of months!

      -again, thank you!

      • Chandra i love the god machine i bought it after seeing the cover design and i was not dissapointed by what i saw in the interior, i had never heard of this graphic novel in my life but once i opened the pages i was in love i cannot wait for the second volume to come out when i go tot the end of the first volume i was sad because i could not find any information on when the next chapters would be released, but i am looking forward to the continuance nonetheless and i just want to say killer killer killer read girl

  3. I can not teel you how happy to hear that the 2nd book will be coming out. Like others I too just happened to see this fine piece of art in Barnes and Nobles one day and the second I saw it I knew it was to be mine. I dont normally look into the graphic novals section because 99 out of 100 are super man and batman (not my tast) and I enjoy manga instead.
With my love for anything gothic, dark, funny and just weird (and a very quick look though) I made a “B” line for the check out line with book in hand and cash in the other haha!
Theres not one thing I dont love about this book, the art, the story and even the “asuka langley soryu” cameo caught my attention.

Well if I dont stop writing now I wont so thank you for the great story, amazingly beautiful artwork and cant wait for the 2nd volume of “The God Machine”

    Wishing I found this sooner,
    Ryan

  4. I stumbled upon The God Machine accidentally. I myself was suffering through a “forget the world and everyone in it” phase. I finished the first edition in an hour, and have read it two dozen times since. One of the most spectacular things I’ve ever seen. I love all of the art work. Can not wait for the second one

  5. I wasn’t looking for any book at the bookstore, but when I walked pass some book shelves, this book was the one thing that caught my eyes. So, I picked it up and read a few pages. It got me hooked on the story and the art used in it. I just love it so much! This is a good story with perfect drawings and color. I read it all in a few minutes because I couldn’t even put the book down! This is one freakin’ good book! I’m now a fan of your work, Chandra Free.

  6. I remember first hearing about The God Machine from a friend late 2009 who was showing me his comic collection and among them was the 48-page preview book. Several years later, I was driving between states, about a month from now, I decided to take a break from the several hour drive by checking out the Barnes and Noble bookstore that was nearby. Perusing through the shelves, I noticed the cover of The God Machine Graphic Novel and was immediately drawn to it. I started reading the first few pages and remembered my friend introducing it to me. It’s cool that even after 3 years I remembered the distinct art style. I bought it and it currently has place on my bookshelf as one of my favorite graphic novels. I love the ebb and flow of your story and the depth you’ve placed in your characters psychologically. The full color pages are simply gorgeous. Chandra, thanks for your work and I can’t wait for the release of the next volume! Hopefully I’ll be able to get it online when you release it since I’ll be stationed in Japan for a couple years. Cheers!

  7. Chandra! I don’t have the words to describe my love of the first book! I was just in Barnes & Noble with my best friend today, just flitting about and sticking our noses into books… I picked up The God Machine, intrigued by the name, and plopped myself down and began to read. My best friend was flipping through a manga that struck her fancy, so I figured I had a few minutes to take a peak. First off the art style struck a HUGE chord with me! Something about it captures my imagination and feels me with this desire to be creative! It’s wonderful! Then the story… lord… I was SO engrossed as I read it! I really began to feel for guy, as if he were one of my friends (I end up being a therapist to my friends a lot… many friends struggle with depression <3) and I wanted to do something… or at least see something happen for him. Then the sheer insane hilarity of the three gods (Not to mention breaking the fourth wall repeatedly ;) had me giggling stupidly in the middle of the store! I reread it three times, forcing my bestie to sit there and wait for me until I was done… I came back tonight with family and after grabbing a book for school I immediately darted back to the graphic novels to find it ^-^

You've created one hell of an amazing book! I'm completely engrossed and I think even a lil obsessed O3O'

Kudos to you! I can't wait for the second book! (Also… thanks for getting me back into The Cure… the little reference in the book put me into a mood for them… now I can't stop blasting their music ^_^). Much love to ya and great job :D <3
